BassBus I originally bought this for Michael Manring's playing, which is as always immense. However, I have been bowled over by the sheer quality of all the playing on the album. Beautiful compositions and David Franklin's playing on guitar and piano is quite wonderful. Mention has to go to the quality of the recording as well. Really enjoying the descovery of this artist.

Passings is a collection of songs written about the many transitions and endings which have happened in my life over the past few years: the death of both my parents, my children leaving home, changes related to the pandemic, and other profound endings which I won’t mention here. These soundscapes have given me a sense of peace somehow and my hope is that they may offer something to others…

David is a multi-instrumentalist whose album Playing With Shadows, made the top 10 on the ZMR Chart in 2015; Songs of Potential Embrace made the top 10 in 2017.

Passings (2022) is his 10th album, featuring bassist Michael Manring and guitarist Owl Licks.
